We are seeking a vigilant and safety-conscious Safety Operator on a 1-year contract to support autonomous vehicle operations.
Job Description:

Monitor autonomous vehicle systems during operation and report irregularities or malfunctions.

Maintain high levels of alertness and attention throughout each test drive to ensure safety and accurate monitoring

Monitor vehicle behaviour, system alerts, and surrounding environment

Take manual control of the vehicle when necessary to ensure safety

Conduct pre-drive and post-drive vehicle checks

Communicate with field teams and support staff to resolve operational issues

Document test results, performance data, and report anomalies to the technical team

Act as a first responder in case of vehicle malfunction

Perform any ad hoc duties assigned.
Job Requirements:

A valid class 3 licence

Minimum 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record

Willingness to undergo a driving skills assessment to evaluate readiness for manual intervention during autonomous vehicle operations

Training or experience in defensive driving techniques, including hazard anticipation and accident prevention, is advantageous

Basic understanding of vehicle systems or autonomous technology is a plus

Ability to remain focused for extended periods of time

Good communication and reporting skills

Willingness to work flexible hours, including shift work, weekends and public holidays
